First insect photo on this forum

As others have posted ‘first’ images, I thought I’d do the same. A Scorpion Fly taken in my local woods in Hampshire. It looks dangerous but it is completely harmless. This is a focus stacked image.

That critter looks scary :scream:

Indeed it does. The ‘sting’ isn’t actually a sting. I believe it’s used by the male to grasp the female during mating. Or something like that.

Very nice and detailed shot!

Great to see some familiar names and their wonderful images here.
I thought I would add the second insect photo.

Sorry, where does the exif show? I’m probably being dumb.

Great Scorpion fly. I’ve seen them at the local butterfly conservatory trust reserve,
Here is my first contribution to the thread.

Nice one Brandon.

I can now see the exif with the plug-in (Exify) on my browser (Firefox).

AFAICT, the micro43 site itself does not display the exif.

Lets try that again

I’ll get used to it along with another forum.

Last year I encountered a hairy-banded mining bee for the first time. It was really a fast mover, and I only saw it briefly for a couple days.
