Birds - April 2023

Hope this is OK to start a new thread for birds…? The inaugural ‘1st bird thread’ has over 60 posts, and getting very leggy. So thinking a new thread might might be good.
April is time for Babies! So here’s Mom Mallard and her Baker’s Dozen ! they’re everywhere ! LOL!

Thx, Yuri

Alpine Swift *Tachymarptis melba * on my Humber Estuary patch. Part of an influx of overshooting migrants in the UK over past few weeks. They winter in Southern Africa and breed across mountainous areas of southern Europe and further east to the Himalaya. Gales during migration threw a bunch further nw than they should be.
Swifts are not easy to photograph when they’re close, and Alpines seem to be **** impossible when flying in gales & murky light!
